In this picture you can see different other
data and in the background a small part of the huge driving wheel having a
diameter of seven metres. The large dimensions are necessary when regarding the
fact that only the rope (without the pit cages or their load) weighs 19,5 kg per
metre - the total length is 1096 metres, so that the total weight is 21,3 tons.
If you add the payload of 18 tons of raw coal and the two pit cages, all
together there are more than 40 tons hanging on this driving wheel.
