A door leads the air !

A door for the ventilation !

We saw the roadways being prepared, how they look after that and the different ways we can move in them. But one aspect has been left out until now: The air has to be moved in the roadways, as well. How else can the air get to the areas of a colliery being far away from the next shaft ? Unluckily it is not enough to pump air into the colliery and wait whether it will find its way or not, the air has to be lead. This happens with doors like the one in the picture. They interrupt the natural flow of air and lead it into the areas it would not reach otherwise.

In this picture additionally the infrastructure in the roadways can be seen very well: On the left there is the conveyor, on the left above the conveyor there is a huge pipe and some smaller ones leading e.g. the methane gas to the shaft and then to the surface. On the right there are some circuit lines, in the middle under the ceiling the rails for the mono-rail and the space for the pedestrians - everything and everybody must pass through here !
